THE TRAVELING ELDERBERRIES

Information

The Traveling Elderberries are an experienced group of talented musicians who met each other at various times over each of their long and varied careers.
They share a love of music from 60's to 80's all of which are well known and trusted songs.
They also have a love of vocal harmonies that is very evident in every one of their performances.

The band members are:

Dave Sleeman
Bass and Vocals
Dave started his musical career singing in church choirs, performing in school concerts, and playing Euphonium in a silver band. During this period, a professional vocal coach trained him.
Dave played his first gig aged fourteen and while he was still in his teens, he was part of a support act for Mud. In his 20’s he joined a harmony band called 4 CT Gold playing bass guitar and supported Dave Berry, Wayne Fontana and The Rocking Berries also regularly performed at many of the top London hotels culminating in 2 shows for the American Embassy supporting the late great Roy Castle.
Dave then played bass for a 6- piece show band before going solo for approximately 10 years. In his forties he joined a Hollies Tribute band called The Berries as lead vocalist which eventually morphed into a popular four piece sixties band where he also reverted to rhythm guitarist.
The Berries played many venues including Warner Hotels and numerous sixties festivals. Playing festivals allowed Dave to appear with and become friends with bands like the Foremost, Herman’s Hermits and the Swinging Blue Jeans.
Although proficient on lead and rhythm guitar, Dave plays bass for The Traveling Elderberries.

Ian Henry
Keyboards and Vocals
Ian studied Organ and Singing at St Albans Cathedral from the age of 6 years to 16, and during his time there participated in many TV and radio broadcasts and appears on most of the records produced by the Cathedral Choir. Including regularly recording for EMI at Abbey Road Studios from the age of 13.
In the late seventies, having left the Cathedral and School, he formed the highly successful keyboards, drums and vocal duo “KANDI”. This format took him the length and breadth of the U.K. working with many of the big stars of the cabaret scene at the time.
Gradually he developed his own brand of humour and wit which proved to be most useful as he turned more towards comedy and cabaret. Again this was hugely successful for Ian and he broadened his horizons by landing contracts all over Europe, the U.S.A. and a season in Bermuda whilst also touring in known bands such as Honeybus, The Wellington Bootles and others.
On his return to the U.K. Ian co-designed the Duelling Pianos concept adopted by Rank Leisure's “Jumpin Jaks” chain and many independent theme bars around the country. He also formed the popular function duo "Double Impact" with his talented vocalist wife Gill Henry. (Known in UK as Teri Jae).
In 2005 Ian moved to Spain and quickly found a niche as a popular entertainer for Hotels, Restaurants and Private Parties. He also formed The Sound Of The New Seekers band with Lyn Paul, a show which toured in Spain.
Back now in UK he juggles his time between working in UK as a solo performer or playing in various established bands and performing in Piano Bars on cruise ships and hotels. He is currently playing regularly in the successful 90's band "China Black ft Errol Reid"
Ian enjoys performing with The Traveling Elderberries as he has a long standing love of the style of music and especially strong harmony vocals.
