GITA - Solo Violinist
Information
Gita is one of eight children brought up in Buxton, Derbyshire. From an early age she began studying violin and piano and went on to graduate from the Royal Academy of Music in London gaining a 1st for her final recital.
The following year Gita and her sisters formed a string quartet and began recording and performing with various artists such as Ozzy Osborne, The Streets, Kanye West, Beyonce, Jay Z, Take That, Paloma Faith, Brett Anderson, Placebo, The Feeling, Sophie Ellis-Bextor, The Feeling and Alison Moyet.
Gita recorded solo violin for 'The Streets' number 1 hit 'Dry Your Eyes' and also recorded solo violin for Mutya Buena single 'Real Girl' which also reached the number 1 spot.
Most recently, Gita has performed at the Barbican with Kurt Wagner of Lamb Chop, Ed Harcourt, Josh T Pearson, Caitlin Rose and Katherine Williams for the Lee Hazlewood Tribute show. She has toured with Sophie Ellis Bextor, Elbow and Kasabian, also performing with them for the headline slots at Glastonbury, T in the Park and V festivals. With her string quartet, Gita organised a sell out show at The Union Chapel in London, performing with Sophie Ellis Bextor, Echo and the Bunny Men, Brett Anderson, Ed Harcourt, Carl Barat and Paloma Faith.
Gita has written String Quartet arrangements for artists such as: The Magic Numbers, Gabrielle Aplin, Ed Harcourt, Tree and Carl Barat and has also appeared on a number of television shows including 'Jools Holland' with Band Of Horses and Kasabian 'The Graham Norton Show' with Bette Midler and Jake Bugg, 'The Formula One Show' with Kasabian, 'The Britt Awards' with Muse, 'The X Factor with Jessie J', 'Top Of The Pops' with The Stone Roses and Mark Ronson, 'This Morning' with Westlife and Sophie Ellis-Bextor, 'Strictly Come Dancing' with The Pussy Cat dolls and 'Live at Abbey Road' with Kristina Train.
Gita is often booked as a solo violinist for weddings. She plays a mix of classical / jazz / gypsy / modern pop songs from memory so she can walk around and be mobile as she isn't glued to the spot with music stands etc.
